Support

Something not working, or a question about your account? Start with the answers below — most problems are one screen away. If yours is not here, write to us.

Contact us

Email is the only support channel, and it is read by a person. Tell us your username and, if the app showed an error, what it said.

We aim to reply within two business days.

Common questions

How do I create an account or sign in?

With your phone number. Enter it, and we send a code in a text message to confirm it is yours. There is no email sign-up and no sign-in with Apple or Google.

The verification code never arrived.

Check the number you typed, including the country code, and that you have signal. Codes can take a minute.

If nothing arrives after a few minutes, request a new code. If that fails too, write to us with the number in full international format and we will look at it.

I forgot my password.

Tap “Forgot password” on the sign-in screen. Recovery goes through your phone number, so you need the SIM to receive the code.

If you no longer have that number, write to us — but note that we will have to be careful, because the phone number is the only proof of ownership an account has.

How do I change my phone number or password?

Settings → Security. The same screen also lists the devices signed in to your account and lets you sign the others out.

How do I make my account private?

Settings → the privacy toggle. With a private account, only your followers see your posts, your stories and who you follow, and new followers have to be approved from the follow-requests screen.

How do I report a post or an account?

Open the post or the profile, then the “…” menu, then Report, and pick a reason. Reporting a post offers eight reasons; reporting an account offers nine, including impersonation.

The person you report is never told that you reported them. We do not send you a case status either — if something needs a reply, write to us instead.

How do I block someone?

From their profile, the “…” menu, then Block. Blocking removes the follow in both directions, and unblocking does not put it back. Blocked accounts are listed under Settings → Blocked accounts.

Contact sync or location sharing says it needs approval.

That is expected. Both features read sensitive information, so each one is off until you request it and an administrator approves your account for it.

Tap the request button on the feature’s settings screen. Approval arrives while the app is open, so you do not have to restart it. Approval can also be time-limited or withdrawn, in which case the feature switches itself off again.

Nothing else in the app depends on these. If you are never approved, everything else keeps working.

My uploads have stopped.

The most likely reason is that your account has reached its storage limit. Delete some of what you have uploaded — old posts, photos or files you sent in a conversation — to free space, and uploads resume.

Are my messages encrypted?

In transit, yes. End-to-end, no. Messages are stored on our servers so they can reach you on any phone you sign in on, which means we are technically able to access them.

If you need a conversation nobody but you and the other person can ever reach, use an app built for that instead. We would rather tell you than let you assume.

The prayer times look wrong for my city.

Prayer times depend on a calculation method, and no two authorities agree on the parameters. Open the prayer screen’s settings and pick the method your region uses, and the school for the Asr calculation.

Times are also based on your current location, so location permission has to be allowed while you are using the app.

The Qibla compass does not move.

The compass needs a magnetometer, and not every phone has a usable one. When the app cannot read a heading it says so rather than pointing somewhere confidently wrong.

Metal cases, car mounts and speakers all interfere with it. Try moving away from them, and hold the phone flat.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Personal information → Delete account. You have to type your own username to confirm, and then confirm once more.

Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone: your sign-in is removed, and your account and posts disappear from the app for everyone else.

One thing to know before you do it: we keep internal records of the account and its content afterwards, so we can handle reports, disputes and legal requests. That record is not visible in the app and cannot be restored to you. The privacy policy says so in full.

If you want everything erased with no exception, email privacy@zulfiqar-app.com after deleting, and say plainly what you want.

Does the app cost anything?

No. It is free, there is nothing to buy inside it, there is no subscription, and there is no advertising.

Safety and moderation

Zulfiqar is for people aged 13 and over. If we find an account belonging to someone younger, we delete it.

Reports are triaged by people. Content that breaks the terms is removed, and accounts that break them can be suspended or deleted — without warning where the breach is serious, particularly anything touching the safety of children.

If you have seen something urgent — a threat to someone’s life, or material involving a child — report it in the app and also email support@zulfiqar-app.com so it reaches us straight away. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
